How to Protect Yourself and Others

How does COVID-19 Spread?

COVID-19 spreads mainly from person to person when:

  • People are in close contact (within about 6 feet)

  • An infected individual coughs, sneezes, or talks and produces respiratory droplets that may land on someone else's nose or mouth who is nearby

  • Those who don't show symptoms may be carriers and could potentially spread COVID-19 unknowingly

Wash your hands often
  • Wash your hands often for 20 seconds or more with soap and water

  • It is important to wash your hands:

    • Before preparing or eating food

    • After using the restroom

    • Before touching your face

    • After leaving a public space

  • If you cannot wash your hands, be sure to use a hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol

Covid-19 Screening
Social Distancing
  • When out of the house, be sure to keep 6 feet between your self and others

    • Remember, not everyone shows symptoms of COVID-19 but may still have the virus â€‹

  • It is very important to social distance from those who are at a higher risk for getting sick

Wear a mask when around others
  • A mask is meant to protect others around you in case you are infected with COVID-19

  • While in a public setting, a mask should always be worn to protect those around you when maintaining social distancing is difficult â€‹

  • A mask is NOT a substitute for social distancing; continue to keep 6 feet between yourself and others

Cleaning and Disinfecting
  • Clean and disinfect regularly touched surfaces such as light switches, door knobs, counter tops, phones, toilets, faucets and sinks

  • If surfaces or items look dirty, clean them with soap and water before disinfecting them

Monitor your health daily
  • Know the COVID-19 symptoms:

    • Fever or chills

    • Cough

    • Shortness of breath

    • Fatigue

    • New loss of taste or smell

  • Take your temperature if any symptoms arise

    • Symptoms develop 2-14 days after exposure to COVID-19
